I apologize for not updating this sooner.
I've been busy....
growing a baby.
Our next little Easter Egg will be hatching around April 15, 2010.
Today was my first appointment with my midwife. We weren't able to hear the heartbeat, so my midwife took us down the hallway for a quick ultrasound. As soon as the baby came up on the screen Kara pointed and said, "cat!" So, with the ultrasound, we were able to see the baby, and hear the heartbeat. The heartbeat was 170 bpm. If you believe old wives tales (fast heartbeat means girl, slow means boy) then this baby should also be a girl, but we'll double check that at our real ultrasound in November.

So, just how much does a baby change in one years time?
Here are some of the very first pictures of Kara, taken within minutes of her birth, Aug 27 2008.

(Sorry this one is sideways. The computer is being lame and wont let me flip it either. So, I am now picturing all of you looking silly with your heads tilted to the right.)

And... here is Kara on her exact birth minute on her birthday.
1:30pm, August 27 2009
We tried to do a cat themed birthday since she loves cats so much.
I made a shirt for her that has a cat on it, that says, "Being one is purr-fect!"
We also had cat shaped cakes, and paw-print shaped chocolate candies.
Here she is blowing out her candle.
Eating her cake.
Feeding Ya-Ya some cake.
Opening presents.
We asked one of our friends to take Kara's one year old pictures for us. She suggested wearing matching clothes so we could take a few family pictures as well. I think she did an AMAZING job! She took almost 300 pictures so it was hard to decide which to put on here to show you. Now to decide which ones to print and put in frames....
(Sorry some of these got out of order.)

As far as other updates go:
Kara can now walk anywhere she wants. I honestly think her cuteness level increased 10 points once she learned to walk. She does such cute random things now that she didn't do even just a week ago. For example, she'll pace around the house holding her toy cell phone to her ear saying, "Dada, dada, dada." Or, she'll bring me all her books one by one, and then take them all back one by one. Kara also throws away her own diapers now that she can walk. She'll bring me her shoes and then stand by the door waiting to go out, and so many other cute things.
Also, she can say dada, mama, cat, dog, uh-oh, and babo (Bible.) She loves to read any book, but especially her Bible. We do devotions with her every night before bed, and now that she can walk she'll bring us her Bible, saying "babo, babo, babo" and crawl into our lap for us to read to her.
For her birthday Grandpa and YaYa got her some crayons and she loves to color now, too. She'll scribble back and forth for several minutes before getting bored. She also loves to dance to music. She'll sway her hips, or move her arms the instant she hears it.
I can't think of any other exciting new updates right now. If you would like to see videos of Kara, send me an email, or leave a comment below and I'll let you know how to do that.
