Costumes for 2012
A little cowgirl and 'Punzel (who later asked for her hair to be "twisted" like 'Punzels.)
Our church did a chili cook-off for it's Fall Festival.
The girls got to decorate cookies.
Isn't that a sweet smile?!
Almost all of the men bobbed for apples (and few of the ladies as well.)
The thing you can't see in this picture is that they added a bag of ice to the water right before the first person.
Lexi bobbed for apples too.
Yep, she stuck her hand right in and grabbed one.
Then we played a game where you had to eat a doughnut off a string without using your hands.
Kara did about 2 bites without her hands and then gave up.
It is harder than it looks and it's impossible to eat it dainty-lady-like.
Musical chairs.
On campus.
And then we took a big adventure!
On the way to Turner Falls in Davis, OK.
She wanted to wear her sunglasses but just not on her eyes.
We made it.
The very first thing we got to do was drive over water.
Then we had a picnic by the water.
While mom made our sandwiches dad and Kara threw rocks in the water.
(Lexi never strays too far from food so she stayed with me and ate chips helped me make the sandwiches.)
We chose a picnic spot right by the water. In the shade. Where it was really chilly.
Oops. Lesson learned. Picnic in the sun from now on.
See Lexi's glasses?
She really did want to wear them, but just not wear them.
My heart throb.
Shivering at our chilly picnic spot.
(Notice how everyone else is wise and further down in the sun. Oh! Now we know why!)
But regardless of the chill bumps, we had a beautiful view.
And this was just at our picnic spot.
It got a 100% prettier than this.
Preston and I decided it reminded us of CO.
Then we went to tour the castle.
(This is what the girls and I were looking forward too.)
(This is a picture I swiped off their website so that you can see it better.)
The castle.
The number of steps you see in this picture is only about 1/10th of the number of steps we climbed to get to the top.
Preston took the easy kid.
I took the kid that wanted to count every step on the way up.
856...857.... 858... 859...
Waiting on the slow-pokes mom and Lexi.
Inside the castle.
There were fireplaces in almost all the rooms.
It was dark so he was using the light on his phone.
The view from the top of the castle.
View of the waterfall from the top of the castle.
And then for some sad news.
My camera died.
Ka-put.
Dead.
I had to rely on my husband to take pictures with his phone and since my lover isn't the picture fanatic that I am, well, this was a very difficult thing for me.
Ok, ignore me and Lexi in this picture.
We should have taken our sunglasses off and looked less bug-eyed.
But check out at that castle!!
Sitting on the wall of the castle on the way down from the top.
(Don't worry it was like a 6 inch drop and mom was right there.
View of the waterfall from below.
There is way too many beautiful things in this picture, I can't even stand it.
In the summer you can swim under the falls and in the water behind us.
Kara's face is absolutely perfect here.
It reminds me of when she was a baby and was learning to smile.
We will definitely have to come back next summer.
We begged a stranger to take a picture of us.
And then I begged my lover to take pictures of every single thing and he'd roll his eyes and mumble something about spending our retirement looking at pictures.
But look! Isn't it marvelous!
The map said there were several caves you could hike to and explore.
Except we went with 4 and 2 year old legs that wore out quickly.
So, we just hiked down the trail and back.
(Finally I got my hands on the camera!)
She kept saying, " Help. Help. My wegs tired."
Aw...
There were 3 levels of hiking trails.
We only walked on one of the easy trails and the girls were tired.
So we drove on the paved parts of the rest to see what it was like.
And it was so wonderful.
Oh, and we did a little of this as well.

This is what Lexi did on the way home from church this morning.
Cute!
